{From mama with love} painting for her

Here is something I haven't been able to do for more than one year now... and I don't really think I will have time to do in the near (or far) future either.. That's a shame, as it's a really satisfying and relaxing crafting activity but it also requires a lot of slow and (ideally) continuous time to devote to it, without any hurry. This is a situation that it's never really happening lately in our household :)
But at that time, my pixie was still quite small and she used to have long naps. My shop was closed for my maternity leave so during all those long naps I had all the time in the world to devote to crafting for her, all the things you saw in my previous posts, including these watercolour pictures.

To be honest for the first illustration, the little mice and toadstools one, the project had always been to paint it. But for the second one, the sleeping bunny and fawn, I was not sure until the end what technique I would have used to give life to that little draft on a piece of paper. Yes, because I often get struck by inspiration like that, without any warning, and so I draw and design and doodle on a piece of paper... to then later decide how I could develop that idea. This time I was not sure if sewing it as an applique work, or if stitching it or if watercolour painting it.

At the end I decided for the latter, that was the most risky option (as my relationship with watercolours is still very tricky and unpredictable!) but also the one that could potentially give me the best result in terms of giving depth, shades and details to that drawing, compared to the other techniques.

A presto

I was lucky, in both cases, both in the picture with the mice and in the one with the fawn and bunny. I really adore them, and as I still am quite an ignorant beginner I actually couldn't be happier! Well of course I couldn't make them again in the same way even if I tried my hardest (beginner's luck and all that) but never mind, they look lovely on Adele's bedroom wall, and that's all that matters :)

Talk to you soon

  6. Bellissimo!
