Chasing the sun... among bluebells and blossoms

At the beginning and at the end of May there two National Holidays in England that are called Bank Holidays Mondays that are always very longed for with the hope of some good weather to enjoy a picnic, a barbecue, a walk in the countryside or a day out. Unfortunately it's also quite a tradition to get bad weather during these long weekends but luckily sometimes the weather surprises us and let us enjoy these short holidays instead. This year, on the first May Bank Holiday the weather was of course not that great in Wiltshire and we were really feeling the need for blue skies and a nice walk. So we had a look at google maps and at bbc weather and we decided to "chase the sun" that seemed to be shining further East compared to where we live..

The choice was between a nice stroll in some quiet and picturesque London suburb with a lunch out in some good little Italian place or a walk in the Surrey countryside with a lunch in a pub. We only managed to decide at the last minute and we chose Surrey because we thought it was a better option for Adele to enjoy, so we left and we headed to that beautiful part of the country that we love and we are very familiar with since we used to live there when we first moved to the UK 11 years ago (where does time fly?!)

A nice lunch in one of the countryside pubs we used to know quite well when we were living in that area and then straight to the lovely village of Godstone, to park our car, and start our walk.

It was already a bit late so we had planned on only do a little bit of the trail and then come back, but once we found ourselves in footpaths surrounded by woods filled with bluebells and never ending golden fields of rapeseed, we couldn't help ourselves and we eventually did all the walk instead!

Adele enjoyed a big part of the walk having her afternoon nap all comfy in the carrier, and she only waked up now and then to have a good look around hoping to catch the sight of some fairy or some elf coming out of the carpets of bluebells that were really making us feel like we were walking inside a fairy tale!

A relaxing stop in a very beautiful pub found along a way for a cold soft drink for us and some  snack and a bit of refreshing water for the little one, and then straight towards the car with our hearts overfilled with nature and beauty. It was definitely worth chasing the sun as it gave us the gift of a very happy and beautiful day to enjoy!

Un abbraccio

  2. Boy would I love to visit UK. Have always wanted to before so after seeing your beautiful photos really do even more.
My brother did geneology study on our Dad's side of family, seems we have quite a bit of English heritage from way back. Have always enjoyed reading books by English authors and about WWII. I was born in 1940 so maybe that's why am so interested in war since it was going on little before I was born. U.S. got into war shortly after I was born.
Are you from Spain? Can pick out word here and there of Spanish can understand. Have lived places where Spanish spoken.
    Happy weekend
