Special friendships and the gift of time

In the middle of autumn posts, Christmassy posts, Cotswolds and countryside posts, daily life posts.. luckily, for once, my blog today goes back to being what it was originally born to be.. a place where I could share my makes with fellow crafters and craft lovers.
This picture, was the Christmas gift for my dearest friends here in England.
Friends that are actually more than friends... that are almost like (or even more than) a family, as we all live in this island far away from any real family (both us and them) we end up trying to help each other all the time in every possible way. Our kids are also very close in age, so that's really a stroke of luck and I am so glad to the universe  or the lucky constellation that made us meet them!
They have an inestimable value to me, to us, so I didn't mind one bit (although at times I admit I was starting to loose hope!) all the endless time spent stitching this picture that portrait them.

Povera illusa!

Yes.. an endless time .. that I definitely had underestimated, as I am not a frequent stitcher.
While I was stitching the bodies, the faces, the details, I kept telling myself "well.. this is the worse bits, I am pretty sure after this, stitching the house will be a picnic"! and I was so convinced of this!
Yeah right, who was I kidding?!

***

The house bricks seemed to never ever end.. and then all the micro details like their cats on the windowsills, the roof, the little windows..
Many long nights going to bed way too late trying to add just a few extra rows.. a few extra stitches..
But that's the beauty of handcrafting gifts.
The chance of making everything completely customised, of adding all the little and very important and meaningful detail, the favourite toys of their kids, the colours of their cats, the details of their home, and those two little stars...

***

And then the usual doubts.. how will the result be? I didn't have any reference or pattern or instructions.. I just went on step by step without much thought (of course I had first drawn all the image in a piece of paper though... but for the stitching part I just played by ear without any specific knowledge.. and you can probably see that..) but despite all that, while the picture was taking shape, I was falling in love more and more with it, and the final result really made me happy (and hopefully them as well!)

Un abbraccio!

  12. Moisture under tiles
Humidity is one of the very annoying things that cause great harm to many families, especially homeowners that do not experience good ventilation, and moisture comes as a result of lack of ventilation and access to water inside the tiles.

The moisture of the tiles causes the tiles to crack and dissolve the adhesives for them, and also causes roughness and foot diseases, and because of the moisture under the tiles the sub-ceiling is affected and cracks that may lead to damage to the building as a whole if the treatment is not done and attention to that quickly and carefully.
Water must be handled tightly, because as it has great benefit, it has great harm, and take care to dry water constantly, give up tiles, and install ceramics because it is anti-moisture and safer.

  14. Concrete barrier blocks or jersey barriers are a simple and effective way to secure your empty premises against unwelcome visits from trespassers, vandals, fly tippers and travellers. Concrete security barriers may be placed across the access to a property, or around the perimeter to block vehicular access. We provide concrete sleepers in either 1.5m, 2.5m or 3m lengths, which can be bolted together with our state of the art interlocking system to create a virtually impenetrable concrete barrier.

Temporary concrete road barriers are a useful tool in traffic management, to safely control traffic flows. Concrete safety barriers are a common sight in car parks, used to define entry and exit lanes and to protect traffic from straying into oncoming lanes. Concrete road barriers may be used to secure building sites and road works, protecting both the passing public and workforce within.

  15. FIND STYLE INSPIRATION
While we may be biased, the AngelorDesign web page is badass. Our site is full of dapper style people just like you have created with our bracelets for men. It's a great way to see how different pair with different wrist watches and ensembles styles of men's bracelets.

    PICK A COLOR

Learning how to style bracelets for men is as simple as picking one color and building off of it. Again, you'll exactly know how this works if you follow our website. If you already have a wristwatch, check out the color of the face. If it's silver, shop men's bracelets that have silver in them as opposed to gold; if the watch face is colored, find some men's bracelets that have the same tone. Then, combine it together for an effortless masterpiece.

    GET A WRISTWATCH

If you don't have a luxury wristwatch, now is the time to get one. Not only are they incredibly practical, but they'll enhance your dapper wardrobe within seconds - pun intended. While you can layer your wrist with all kinds of men's bracelets, adding a wristwatch will separate the styles and add dimension into the look.
