Busy bee (behind the scenes)

It had been months (well.. let's say two years, as during pregnancy I was totally obsessed with making things for Adele, and then after she was born.. well you know how things are...) since the last time I had thrown myself so intensely into my craft work. In the last few weeks the situation in my craft room, well, all around the house actually, is more or less this one you see in these pics. Every little spared moment is devoted to craft craft craft.. after many months during which the shop was almost empty and I was only able to make (lots and lots, as there is quite a high demand for them) newborn decorations, I decided to get back on track, and the timing is perfect as lately there have been lots of thoughts about the present and the future going on around here, life changing decisions to possibly take, waits, uncertainties, and so much going on that I really needed and need to keep my mind occupied as much as possible.

With my hands at work, and my mind already thinking about the next project..

Making crafts by hand, by machine, sewing, cutting, painting, sat at the craft room table when the little one has her naps, or sometimes on the sofa (my favourite spot to create!) while she plays so that we keep each other company while both busy with our favourite past times :)

Our little mouse has also recently started to attend nursery two mornings a week. It's only a few hours but they are so so so important for both of us. For me because, obviously being an expat I don't have any family around so nobody (besides a couple of friends, which I don't feel like burdening unless it's strictly necessary) who can have her every now and again, but to be honest this was perfectly fine by me so far, as luckily I don't have any special needs to go anywhere alone, and even more luckily there were not any emergencies or very difficult times to deal with at least until now... and also, to be perfectly honest with you, I am a very very over attached mummy, the stereotypical clingy Italian mummy indeed, so I definitely appreciated and enjoyed having her with me all the time, and I woulnd't have had it in any other way, and I feel very lucky to be able to spend so much time together.

But of course a couple of mornings a week seems like a perfect solution now, for me, so I can "breathe" a bit and reclaim a bit of me-time mainly to work a bit more, but mainly for her (actually the decision was taken almost completely for her, after we learnt to know her and her character and needs) as she absolutely adores and craves interaction with other babies, and she gets completely excited and happy every time we go to a baby group or class (and we go to a few of them). We knew we took the right decision when we realised she basically didn't even need a settling in period as she settled in straight away and is totally excited and happy to be there, also the carers constantly tell us how much she is enjoying staying there, and how sociable and happy she always is and how excited she always is to take part in all the activities and playing. So yeah, considering all this, I probably guess that two mornings a week is possibly not even enough for her given how much she loves it, but for now it's the best compromise for everyone, and we think it's "the best of both worlds"!

It's amazing how much you can actually do in just two mornings a week, especially if you consider that the net amount of time is barely 3-4 hours each time, and that there is not just the craft work, but also so much more stuff to take care like house and garden duties, errands etc... but I realised that when you have little time you really end up using every spare second you get and making the most of it.. And then it's not just the nursery mornings, there are also the afternoon naps (their length is not guaranteed but usually she gives me at least a couple of hours a day), so all in all the result of all this little but very efficiently used, spare time, is in all the pics of this post. Some weeks are better than others, there were (and still are) many flus (both mine and hers), and frequent long work trips for daddy which are quite exhausting to me, as I am completely alone, and many other set backs always behind the corner for us, so most of the times I am definitely not able to make all the things I have in my mind and I am definitely not able to keep myself on schedule.. but never mind. I try my best and do what I can!

The newborn decorations are usually always in my shop, sometimes they are sold out and it can take me a few days to make some new ones to replenish the stock. And as for the rest of things you were able to peek in this post, (some Easter decorations, my bird keychains, many pouches and accessories, some decorative softies.. and other things maybe..) well, I hope to be able to list them in my shop during this week... and to have a decently stocked up shop for a while at long last! I have already taken almost all the pictures (and a couple of pictures above you can get a bit of "behind the scenes" and see how our living room becomes a very basic makeshift photo studio ^_^), so now I just need to prepare all the listings, which is quite a long process... so I'd better go back to work and say bye bye for now!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and a big hug

  3. E fai sempre tutto molto molto bene. Quante cose carine!
    Rosa

Trying to remember what it was like for me when I had one child, had girl first. Maybe was too young as took me while to get hang of being Mother. Had my first just 11 days before I turned 20, before was 24 had 3rd child/ and 2nd. boy. Almost 6 yrs. later had 4th. child, a little girl, with 2nd. husband. We've been married for over 48 yrs.
Sounds like your baby girl is very happy baby, that's wonderful. Says much for you and her Daddy.
Don't worry about answering my comment, just when you can. Glad I found your blog.
I am 76 yr. old Grama of 5 pretty much grown up grandkids, my kids are older already, oldest 3 in 50's and youngest soon to be 47.
I had better get back to working on purging, organizing in my craft room. Has been much too long since I paid attention to sewing room and craft room.
    Enjoy rest of week.

  5. Il tuo blog è il mio salvadepressione. Mi ricarica sempre,mi regala buon umore, sorrisi e incoraggiamento.
    Baci e complimenti,
    Silvia
